Meningiomas - cerebellopontine angle and frontal

Case contributed by Ammar Haouimi
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Left tinnitus.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Well-defined extra-axial mass at the left cerebellopontine angle with broad-based dural attachment, extending into the ipsilateral ICA. It appears isointense to the cortical grey matter on T1 and T2, slightly hyperintense on FLAIR with vivid and homogeneous enhancement on postcontrast sequences with a "dural tail sign". A moderate mass effect is noted on the brainstem and middle cerebellar peduncle.

Another small well-defined broad-based extra-axial enhancing mass is noted in the left anterior frontal region with a "dural tail sign" suggestive of meningioma.

Case Discussion

MRI features of two enhancing broad-based extra-axial masses of the left cerebellopontine angle and left frontal region most consistent with meningiomas.
