Status post sternotomy and MVR, and pacemaker.
Cardiomegaly with splaying of the subcarinal angle in keeping with left atrial enlargement. Double right heart border.
Minor right mid-zone linear atelectasis. Right lung clear.
Case Discussion
All the classic signs of a 'Mitral Heart' with the splayed subcarinal angle and double right heart border are beautifully illustrated. The incompetent mitral valve is now replaced, but not before the heart shows the permanent features of this pathology.
