Presentation
Brought in by ambulance, arrest at home. Found by the child's mother's boyfriend unresponsive in the cot.
Patient Data
Left parietal skull fracture. Subdural and subarachnoid blood at convexities and along falx. Widespread loss of grey-white matter differentiation indicating a global hypoxic ischemic injury.
Right distal tibial metaphyseal corner (bucket handle) fracture. The other bones and included soft tissues are normal.
Case Discussion
This is the initial skeletal survey as part of investigations for inflicted non-accidental injury. The study is abnormal and the constellation of findings are highly suspicious for inflicted non-accidental injuries.
