Osteochondroma with adventitious bursitis

Presentation

Pain and swelling in right hip.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

Bony outgrowth arising from lesser trochanter of right femur, projecting posteromedially. Thin cartilaginous cap seen. Lesion is significantly splaying quadratus femoris muscle posteriorly, displacing, mildly compressing sciatic nerve and mildly splaying gluteus maximums, obturator externus muscles. It is also splaying hamstring tendons.

Large irregular fluid collection around the lesion with intermuscular extension between gluteus medius, maximum muscles. It is also extending anteriorly between obturator externus, adductor brevis muscles and inferiorly along posterior aspect of adductor brevis.

Case Discussion

Overall above findings are in keeping with osteochondroma with adventitious bursitis.
