Presentation

Severe abdominal pain and swelling

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

This sizable well-marginated pelvi-abdominal ovoid cystic lesion measures about 15 x 20 x 25 cm. It elicits a low signal on T1 and high signal on T2 with no significant solid enhancement on the postcontrast sequence. It has a thin wall that is minimally enhanced with internal thin incomplete septae. The lesion involves the pouch of Douglas and exerts mass effect upon the uterus that is displaced anteriorly. There is also a mass effect on the urinary bladder.  

Case Discussion

Ovarian cystectomy followed by histopathological assessment was done and revealed benign ovarian serous cystadenoma with no evidence of malignancy.
