Presentation
Abdominal pain. Incidental finding on CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis.
Patient Data
Fatty hepatomegaly with patchy geographic hyperdense areas of fat sparing and a prominent papillary process of caudate lobe.
Case Discussion
The inferior aspect of the caudate lobe is divided into medial and lateral processes and shows variable morphology. The medial process extends left towards the stomach, also known as the papillary process of the caudate lobe. It is important to remain cognisant of the papillary process of the caudate as it can often be mistakenly interpreted lymphadenopathy or pancreatic body mass particularly when congenitally hypertrophied.
