Paraspinal muscles show diffuse atrophy, and fatty replacement is noted.
There was no abnormality of the dorso-lumbar spine bones, discs, spinal canal, or cord.
Case Discussion
Fatty infiltration of the paraspinal muscles is usually associated with spinal disorders, commonly degenerative changes. In this young lady, neither pathological changes in the spine nor any significant degenerative changes of the discs are present.
Hence, it needs further clinical and pathologic workup to look for the possible cause and type of any myopathy.
