Parietal skull vault thinning

Gross symmetrical thinning of the parietal bones (with only the inner table remaining). Note the abrupt transition (arrows) to relatively normal vault thickness.
Case Discussion
This finding is suprisingly common in the elderly, although the etiology is obscure. It is usually symmetrical.
