Presentation
Intermittent locking sensation.
Patient Data
Parrot beak radial tear of the posterior third of the medial meniscus. Displaced flap tear of the posterior third of the lateral meniscus which has displaced from the tibial surface into the posterolateral tibial recess beneath the popliteus tendon.
Mild medial compartment and moderate patellofemoral joint chondromalacia. Intact cruciates and normal collaterals.
Case Discussion
Meniscal tears can be displaced or undisplaced. A parrot beak tear is an oblique radial tear which can often cause a marching cleft sign. Flipped meniscal fragments can displace into the peripheral tibia or femoral recesses, or centrally into the intercondylar notch.
