Partial intramyocardial bridge

Case contributed by Ryan Thibodeau
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Former tobacco user with exertional angina.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male

The right coronary artery (RCA) is dominant and there is minimal calcified plaque within the proximal RCA without hemodynamic stenosis or occlusion. However, there is a short segment measuring approximately 1.3 cm of a partial intramyocardial bridge of the right coronary artery in the right atrial wall.

Additionally, there are two small calcified plaques in the left circumflex artery without stenosis or occlusion. There are no plaques or bridges of the left anterior descending artery. The coronary arteries arise from the expected coronary sinuses without coronary anomaly.

Case Discussion

This is a case of an incidentally noted short segment partial intramyocardial bridge of the right coronary artery (RCA) in the right atrial wall. There is minimal (if any) stenosis of the RCA as it traverses through the atrial wall.
