There is a transverse fracture of the middle region of the left patella, a suprapatellar bursa effusion can be seen on the lateral projection.
Case Discussion
Fractures of the patella are one the most common knee injuries, often they are a result of direct force to the knee. A transverse fracture of the middle patella, (as seen in this case) is the most prevalent patella fracture.
