Presentation
Anterior knee pain for the last 5 to 6 months. Active in gym and sports. On examination, tenderness at the lower pole of the patella.
Patient Data
There is a lateral patellar tilt. The femorotibial and the patellofemoral spaces are maintained. There is no fracture/ dislocation/ bone lesion.
The patellar tendon is intact. There is a focal hypoechoic area in the patellar tendon proximal fibers on the medial aspect. The rest of the ligament shows normal echopattern. Significant hypervascularity is present as compared to the asymptomatic side.
There is no anterior knee bursitis.
Case Discussion
The case shows a focal area of patellar tendinosis in a young male.
