Case contributed by Mohammad Taghi Niknejad
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Periodic abdominopelvic pain.

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Male
ct

Several unilocular cysts less than 43 mm, with smooth, minimally thickened walls and homogenous contents, are seen in the left pelvis. No obvious septations or enhancing solid components are noted within.

A small volume of free fluid is present in the pelvis.

Case Discussion

The patient underwent pelvic cysts resection, and histopathology evaluation confirmed lymphatic cystic hygroma.

Cystic hygromas occur most commonly in the neck (80%) and axilla, with only 10% of cases extending to the mediastinum and only 1% confined to the chest. Very rarely, they may be found in the abdominopelvic cavity, including the small intestine, colon, and mesentery.
