Pelvic osteomyelitis

Presentation

Left hip pain for several weeks. New temperature and headache.

Patient Data

Age: 12 years
Gender: Female
mri

Thickened ileum and ischium with bone edema and expansion. Left hip joint effusion. Extensive myositis of obturator internus and to a lesser extent, quadratus femoris.

Case Discussion

Left pelvic osteomyelitis with adjacent myositits. Hip joint effusion, but no collection. Hip aspiration yielded no growth. Blood cultures grew group B streptococcus. Conservative management with elongated course of IV antibiotics.
