Presentation

Preoperative abdominal radiographs. Patient had history of chronic renal failure and developed cystic disease in both kidneys. She had bilateral nephrectomies for dialysis induced renal cell cancer. Now where is the catheter?

These two radiographs were obtained two years apart showing the bilateral nephrectomies on the second study and the abdominal peritoneal dialysis catheter.

Case Discussion

Renal cell cancer is an uncommon complication of hemodialysis, as shown in this patient.

Look where the catheter tip lies in the pelvis. Look for any changes in location on subsequent radiographs.
