Presentation

History of prematurity, presented with a developmental delay.

Patient Data

Age: 2 years
Gender: Female

The MRI sequences demonstrate:

  • ventriculomegaly with irregular margins of the bodies and trigones of the lateral ventricles
  • loss of periventricular white matter with increased signal on FLAIR and T2 sequences
  • thinning of the corpus callosum.

MRI features most consistent with end-stage periventricular leukomalacia (PVL).
