Presentation

Unrestrained passenger, involved in a motor vehicle accident. Was on the mother's lap in the back seat. The car rolled several times and the patient's head was compressed between the mother and the front seat headrest. The child was drowsy but awake.

Age: 9 months
Gender: Female

There is a depressed skull fracture in the left parietal bone, with no associated cortical breaks. No intracranial hemorrhage or other intracranial pathology.

Case Discussion

Ping pong fractures are a type of depressed skull fracture that occurs in infants. It is usually associated with birth trauma.
