Presentation

Soft tissue mass over the medial end of right clavicle.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Right side anterior chest wall mass with erosion of the medial end of the clavicle.

Background hyperinflated lungs.

Case Discussion

Incisional biopsy from the lateral edge of tumor over the medial end of the right clavicle.

Histology report

There is a cellular infiltrate of atypical plasmacytoid cells, with scattered mitotic figures.
Immunocytochemical studies show tumor cells are positive for CD138, and are negative for CD3, CD20 and PAX5.

Features are consistent with multiple myeloma, if multiple skeletal lesions are present.

This was an isolated lesion with no other skeletal lesions identified.
