Shortness of breath

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

M mode anterior sagittal parasternal chest wall ultrasound shows normal seashore pattern of the left side and the barcode sign of pneumothorax in the right side.

In addition to reverberation lines from the parietal pleura

Right side pneumothorax, splitting the parietal and visceral pleura with no lung markings are seen peripheral to visceral pleura.

Case Discussion

This a case of spontaneous pneumothorax, it was managed by placing a chest tube.

Expiratory film helps to make the visceral pleura more conspicuous by making the lung smaller and denser.
