Post-traumatic diaphragmatic rupture

Focal defect in the posterior left diaphragm with diaphragmatic elevation and irregularity. There is herniation of omentum into the chest through the diaphragmatic defect. The findings are in keeping with diaphragmatic rupture.

Diaphragmatic rupture often results from blunt abdominal trauma which is usually associated with motor-vehicle accidents.
