Case contributed by Andrew Dixon
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Right shoulder pain.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

Right shoulder

x-ray

A well-defined area of lucency at the lateral aspect of the humeral neck simulates a pseudocyst of the humerus. However, the lateral view demonstrates cortical erosion of the posterolateral humeral neck consistent with an aggressive lesion. The patient had a known history of malignancy and this was an osseous metastasis.

There is an old rib fracture of the left 5th rib.

Case Discussion

Metastasis simulating a pseuocyst of the humeral head.
