Presentation

The patient complains of right foot pain after he fell from a high place Clinical examination: swollen and tenderness in the right foot, above the 5th metatarsal base

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Right 5th metatarsal styloid avulsed fracture is noted

Soft tissue swelling is noted

The fracture is located less than 13.36 mm distal to the styloid tip

Case Discussion

A case of an avulsion fracture of the 5th metatarsal bone, the fracture is located less than 1 cm distal to the styloid, whereas a Jones fracture is typically located at the metadiaphyseal junction, approximately 2 cm distal to the tip of the styloid.
