Patient Data

Age: 70 years

ct

Relatively small right kidney measuring 7.5 cm with diffuse parenchymal calcifications that are denser in the periphery, representing post infection sequelae.

Noted also right pleural calcification with atelectatic band and minimal pleural reaction.

Case Discussion

The patient presented with anemia, weight loss and intermittent fever. Ultrasound showed medical nephropathy (images not available).

Presence of right kidney dense homogenous calcification, giving the appearance of putty kidney, associated with calcification of the ipsilateral pleura, is highly characteristic of renal tuberculosis.
