Presentation

History of the right elbow injury occurred today after falling from the stairs. Clinical exam revealed moderate swollen, tenderness, limited movement.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

A right radial head comminuted fracture is noted.

Fat pad sign is noted ( sail sign).

Case Discussion

The fat pad sign indicates elbow joint effusion. It is considered an indirect sign of an occult fracture

This fracture is classified as type III according to Mason's classification of radial head fractures.
