Presentation

Patient with a history of ALL, undergoing radiation for bone marrow transplantation. The patient presents with gross hematuria and abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

PA U/S

ultrasound
  • abnormal urinary bladder wall with diffuse and focal irregular thickening
  • prominent hypervascularity of the wall is noted on color Doppler study
  • turbid bladder contents compatible with blood products

Case Discussion

Both radiation and chemotherapy can result in severe hemorrhagic cystitis.
