Presentation

Professional volleyball player presented with sharp pain in the infraumbilical region for the past 10 days following a sudden jerk during a volleyball game.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

An ill-defined anechoic collection is observed in the intramuscular region of the right rectus abdominis muscle, displaying an internal fluid-fluid level.

Loss of normal fibrillar pattern of rectus muscle seen.

The internal contents were observed to change position with alterations in the patient's position, consistent with a hematoma.

This case demonstrates a specific case of rectus muscle tear with hematoma which was later confirmed intraoperatively.
