Presentation
Young female complaining of chronic nasal obstruction, mouth breathing and post nasal discharge for two years.
Patient Data
A well defined lobulated densely calcified mass is seen within and slightly expanding the right nasal cavity (between the nasal septum and inferior turbinate). It is intimately related to and displacing the right inferior nasal turbinate laterally. There is associated adjacent mucosal thickening of the nasal cavity and inferior turbinate.
Moderate mucosal thickening of the right maxillary sinus and minimal basal mucosal thickening of the left maxillary sinus also noted.
Case Discussion
Rhinoliths are formed due to central nidus which undergoes progressive calcification. It can be asymptomatic for a long time before becoming symptomatic. This patient did not give any history of foreign body or intervention.
