Case Discussion

Richter's hernia is a type of abdominal wall hernias where there is herniation of an antimesenteric wall of the bowel through an abdominal wall defect, usually occurring in elderly.

Richter's hernia can be complicated by incarceration and subsequent ischemia of the bowel. Surgery is often indicated, however, if the patient is asymptomatic, the surgery can be done electively.
