Triangular appearance (on the lateral) consistent with a tight right middle lobe collapse.

Heart size normal. Left lung clear. No mediastinal widening.

Case Discussion

One doesn't get too many lateral chest radiographs to report these days, aside from post pacemaker insertion. In fact, many would run a mile not being used to them to feel confident to report one!

This is a cracking example of a right middle lobe collapse, which was on a prior CT chest. The cause was non-malignant in etiology, presumed related to the know bronchiectasis.
