Sandwich sign (mesentery)

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Gradually increased abdominal distension with dull pain.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male
ct

Innumerable, enlarged and matted mesenteric, peri-gastric, peri-pancreatic, pre/para-aortic and aorto-caval lymph nodes are noted (resembling sandwich or hamburger sign). These enlarged lymph nodes are encasing mesenteric vessels, aorta, IVC and renal vessels without occlusion and displacing bowels and adjacent structures.

Mild ascites is noted.

Scoliotic deformity of the spine is seen.

Rest of the visualized organs appear unremarkable.

CT findings of multiple enlarged abdominal lymph nodes, giving sandwich or hamburger sign which is almost typical for lymphoma as detailed above.
