Presentation

Abnormal head shape.

Patient Data

Age: 5 years
Gender: Female
ct

Anteroposterior elongation of the skull with abnormal narrow transverse diameter and frontal bossing due to premature closure of the sagittal suture. 

Normal appearance of the other cranial sutures.

Normal posterior cranial fossa, cerebral hemispheres and ventricular system.

Case Discussion

CT features of premature closure of the sagittal suture in keeping with a scaphocephaly.

Normally, the fusion of the sagittal suture occurs at approximately 22 years of age.
