Presentation

Chronic knee pain with previous sports injury

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male

MRI demonstrates avulsed cortical bone fragment along the lateral aspect of lateral tibial plateau (Segond fracture), these findings are chronic as there is no bone marrow edema/pivot shift bone bruise. Non visualization of  ACL due to ACL disruption, and complex tear of posterior horn of medial meniscus as a combination of horizontal and radial tears that show T1-WI and PD- fat sat and T2-WI high signal intensity.

Case Discussion

Segond fracture is avulsion fracture of the knee that involves the lateral aspect of lateral tibial plateau, and in 75% of cases is associated with disruption of ACL.
