Septate uterus

Presentation

Primary infertility.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Septate uterus with the septum showing the following details:

  • total length = 4 cm
  • distal edge: Just proximal to the internal os.
  • maximal thickness near the fundus: 1.5 cm
  • the upper 2.5 cm are myometrial in nature

Otherwise, normal size of the uterine body and cervix. Normal endometrial thickness and signal. Normal zonal anatomy. No masses.

Normal MRI pattern of both ovaries and adnexa. A left ovarian hemorrhagic cyst (1.7 cm).

Case Discussion

Imaging features are of a  septate uterus with complete uterine septum extending to just proximal the internal os. Other supportive features are, acute angle between uterine cavities, convex external uterine fundal contour, and contiguous myometrium extending between the two cavities.
