Post brown snake bite with reduced GCS

Patient Data

Gender: Male

Inital imaging

Acute sub-arachnoid hemorrhage in both cerebral hemispheres sub-arachnoid blood distribution is atypical for aneurysmal rupture, likely to be secondary to venom anticoagulation. 

Six hours post

ct

Large progression of the sub-arachnoid and cerebral hemorrhage. There is now a mass effect of 5mm mid line shit to the right and diffuse sulcal effacement

Venomous snake bites from species such as the Pseudechis (king brown) affect most components of the hemostatic system leading to rapid coagulopathy known as venom-induced consumptive coagulopathy 2-4.
