Road traffic accident.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

  • devascularization with breach of a segmental vessel involving lower pole of the spleen with an arterial blush and perisplenic hematoma. 

Case Discussion

Devascularization of the spleen is an urgent indication for surgical intervention as active bleeding needs to be stopped. Any grade higher than grade III requires surgical intervention usually resulting in a partial or total splenectomy.
