Squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Vaginal bleeding.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

There is a 30 x 45 x 55 mm bulky soft tissue mass with irregular margins centered on the uterine cervix with extension to the upper 1/3 of the vagina and parametrial infiltration on the left side. The mass shows restricted diffusion and moderate heterogeneous enhancement on postcontrast sequences. 

Few enlarged internal iliac chains regional lymph nodes, with diffusion restriction suggestive of regional metastatic nodes.

No evidence of invasion of the adjacent organs.

Case Discussion

Stage IIIC1 of cervical cancer is considered according to FIGO system staging.

The histopathology report after biopsy of cervical mass: squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix (keratinizing type).
