Subcapsular splenic hematoma

Presentation

Left hypochondrial pain

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female

A large left-sided sub-capsular hematoma is seen along the lateral splenic border exerting mass effect in the form of Compression of the spleen which shows subsequent displacement to the midline, indentation, abutment of the gastric body, and downward displacement of the left kidney. Such hematoma shows mixed densities being predominantly hypodense with linear hyperdense streaks likely denoting blood of different ages.

Asymmetric renal sizes: left smaller than right.

A small upper abdominal right para-median omental containing hernial sac.

Another lower abdominal midline hernia.

Cholecystectomy clips noted.

Foley's catheter within the urinary bladder.
