Presentation
Pain, swelling, clicking in right knee joint.
Patient Data
Moderate right knee joint effusion with suprapatellar extension is seen.
Hypointense signal seen on T1W, T2W images in the thickened synovium with stranding of Hoffa’s fat pad and irregular Hoffa’s fat pad sign present. These represent changes of synovitis.
There is well defined approx 1.1 x 1.0 cm and 1.0 x 0.7 cm in size lymph nodes posteriorly along the popliteal vessels.
Bone marrow edema / changes of osteitis in both tibial and femoral condyles and at patella.
There is thinning with loss of articular cartilage seen at both medial, lateral tibiofemoral joint space and patellofemoral joint space.
Reduction of the tibiofemoral and femoropatellar joint space.
Grade II meniscal signal in the posterior horns of medial and lateral menisci.
Case Discussion
These findings represents changes of synovitis with underlying infective/ inflammatory involvement.
