mammography

Scattered punctate calcification foci are seen in the left breast as a benign finding.

In addition, a group of punctate calcifications is noted in the central medial part of the left breast, which is fixed in orientation on both CC and MLO views, known as a tattoo sign and consistent with dermal calcification. (BI-RADS 2)

Suspicious mass and calcification, and parenchymal distortion are not detectable.

There is no evidence in favor of retraction and skin thickening.

Case Discussion

The tattoo sign is a benign finding and feature given to describe dermal calcifications seen on mammography to prove the dermal location of the calcifications. It is helpful to obtain a tangential view or perform a tomosynthesis
