Tiny retrocochlear vestibular schwannoma

Presentation

Hearing loss and tinnitus in left ear since 2 months

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

A small 3.5 mm left retrocochlear intracanalicular lesion showing intense post-contrast enhancement is noted suggestive of left vestibular schwannoma.

Case Discussion

Vestibular schwannoma arise from the vestibular portion of the vestibulocochlear nerve and arise from Schwann cells.

Majority of solitary lesions are sporadic, bilateral lesions are usually seen in Neurofibromatosis 2.
