Presentation

The 19-week fetus was referred for fetal echocardiography because of an abnormal three-vessel view on a routine anomaly scan.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female
  • normal four-chamber view

  • parallel arrangement of great arteries.

  • aorta (Ao) arises from the right ventricle (RV) and appears as a long vessel

  • pulmonary artery (PA) originating from the left ventricle (LV)

The bifurcation of PA forms an image of a baby bird with an open beak (Baby bird’s beak sign).
