Presentation

Crushing injury by heavy object. Patient admitted with an open fracture of the distal phalanges of the second and third fingers of the left hand.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

Admission radiography

x-ray

Comminuted fracture and amputation of the distal phalanx of the third finger. Fracture of the distal phalanx of the second finger, with a small adjacent fragment. Skin and subcutaneous tissue with continuity solution in the distal portion of the second and third fingers.

4 months of evolution

x-ray

Amputation of the distal portion of the distal phalanx of the third finger.

Case Discussion

Patient underwent a surgical procedure to correct the amputation stump of the distal phalanx of the third finger of the left hand, showing a favorable evolution.
