Presentation

Motor vehicle collision.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

Mild widening of the superior mediastinum with mild rightward displacement of the trachea. Minimal patchy increased opacity left lung base likely represents a pulmonary contusion.

Traumatic aortic injury with pseudoaneurysm just distal to the left subclavian artery. Periaortic hematoma.

Aortogram confirms pseudoaneurysm. Follow-up aortogram after endovascular repair shows successful stent-graft deployment.

Stent-graft appropriately positioned. Evolving left basilar contusion.

Case Discussion

Typical appearance of traumatic aortic injury, with pseudoaneurysm in the expected location of the ligamentum arteriosum and mediastinal hematoma. Succesful endovascular repair.
