Presentation
Wrist pain at the ulnar side volar aspect in the neutral position in the absence of obvious trauma in past medical history.
Patient Data
Tearing of triangular fibrocartilage complex is seen associated with the fluid signal at the distal radioulnar joint.
Regarding the Palmer classification of TFCC abnormalities, the recent finding is categorized as Palmer 2c, but degenerative changes are not well seen due to quite large FOV.
The fluid signal also is present at the central part of the scapholunate ligament due to the tearing of the interosseous/intermediate component of the scapholunate ligament causing to diastasis of the scapholunate distance.
Case Discussion
Triangular fibrocartilage complex prevents fluid to cross the ligament proximally to the forearm. Tearing of the TFCC may be associated with the fluid signal at the distal radioulnar joint and the other abnormalities such as DRUJ instability, carpal instability as well as ulnar impaction syndrome.
