Case Discussion

An example of bilateral non-metallic tubal ligation rings. The rings are called Falope rings and were introduced in 1975 by Yoon and colleagues 1.2.3. The ring is made of medical-grade silicone and has barium sulphate within it to ensure its radio-opacity and easy X-ray identification. They are applied to a looped fallopian tube section, specifically the isthmus. Falope rings represent an example of a non-thermal method of ligation with a potential for reversibility. The rings are applied using a one-time disposable kit which includes an applicator.
