Presentation

Young man with a history of chronic otitis media, complaining of hear loss and earache. A tympanoplasty is planned

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

Thickened left tympanic membrane with a defect of 3 mm in size. The hypotympanum is also filled with fluid.

Case Discussion

The diagnosis of tympanic membrane perforation is clinical, however, CT is needed in the pre-operative management in order to delineate the inner ear's intricate bony anatomy and malformations.
