Presentation

6 weeks post cervical trauma. Tracheostomy 4 weeks ago. Difficult ventilation. Serial CXR showing elevated right hemidiaphragm? phrenic nerve palsy.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male

Mechanical ventilation paused during US assessment.

The right diaphragm demonstrates markedly reduced excursion and sniff motion when compared to the left.

The left diaphragm demonstrates normal excursion and sniff responses.
