Presentation

Painful right shoulder.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
mri
  • there is an os acromial (mesoacromial subtype) with marked edema around the mesoacromial joint line

  • the adjacent acromioclavicular joint remains free of arthritic changes and edema

  • there is no step-off deformity 

  • no tendon tears, joint effusion, or subacromial impingement

Case Discussion

Features of a symptomatic os acromiale (mesoacromial subtype) due to probable instability and gross motion of the unfused secondary center since there is no evidence of associated subacromial impingement nor tendon tears.
