Presentation
Pelvic pain. History of right nephroureterectomy for urothelial carcinoma 4 years prior, with right ureteral stump.
Patient Data
Foley catheter within the bladder. Diffuse stranding and extraperitoneal fluid about the bladder. Soft tissue enhancement of right ureteral stump is consistent with recurrent urothelial carcinoma (a known finding). Staple at the top of the ureteral stump.
Case Discussion
Relatively unique case. The patient was treated 4 years prior with nephroureterectomy for urothelial malignancy, and the surgical technique left a right ureteral stump. There is enhancing soft tissue filling the ureteral stump, consistent with tumor recurrence. There is extraperitoneal fluid and stranding surrounding the bladder, which is likely related to urine leak from the ureteral stump tumor. The patient had multiple comorbidities and was being managed as conservatively as possible.
