Case Discussion
The whirlpool sign is described when a structure twists upon itself giving the appearance of a rapidly rotating mass of water in a river or sea.
It can be noticed as a mesenteric whirlpool when the bowel twists upon its mesentery, an ovarian whirlpool when the ovary rotates upon its pedicle in ovarian torsion, or a testicular whirlpool when the spermatic cord twists in testicular torsion.
